Developing Website

Today the fastest growing media is internet and a website is small part of it. Website is a formated collection of the web pages,images, text,videos etc.. . This collection allows us to get information in appropriate format.

Now a days a large ammount of information is posted on internet thorugh websites. Many people use these websites for their business,for their entertainment, for sharing information, for getting friends. Internet has became a new platform for people to share their lives with others and it has no boundries.

But designing a website and maintaining is similar to maintaing your business on the streets of Internet and you have to keep in mind that the increased no of users will give you better business prospect and you have design your website for users. Here are some tips for desiging website.
1. Goal and Objective
First decicde why are you developing this website. Set a goal for developing ,set the contents for development of the website, what is depth of these contents.Goals provide the general frameworks of your Web site and are broad statements that indicate the purpose of the site.
2.Web Audiance
Find out your web audiance which age group people are going to visit your web site. To whom your website is usefull.While developing a website most important factor is target audiance.
3.Draw the webpages on paper.
Most important work draw sketch of your web site on the paper. Decide
-How you are going to arrange your topics and subtopics.
-How the menus are arranged?
-What is logo of your site?
-Draw the home page such that it will provide breif information about the site.
-Draw a page which will give information about the orgnizaiton or community.
-Draw the main service page for users.
4.Select a Web Development tool
By using which tool you are going to develop a website is also important. There are lots of tools available in the market but many of these tools are not even worth to use them. So try that you use a good tool like dreamweaver or some other.
5. Navigation Structure.
This is the most important part of a website. A user consistantly moves from one page to another so your website must have good navigation structure which will make user feel comfortable while using the website.
Your website must have general navigation structure which should be common for all the pages.
  • Each page must have like for the home page
  • User must be able to go to all the main service pages of the site through navigation structure.
  • User proper images or text for the links to different pages.

The web sites are built around the navigation structures. The navigation structures hyperlink and organize the interrelationship between the contents. There are four navigation structures used by web developers.

  1. Sequential
  2. Grid
  3. Hierarchical
  4. Web

In sequential the navigation is arrangend in alphbetical order or the numerical order.In order from general specific infomration.

In grid navigation is arranged in a grid format. In this the information is arranged in no particular order of importance.

Hierarchical is the general structure use to organize the complex navigational schemes.This structure uses the typical home page with topic and subtopics arranged in order of importance.

Web arrangement format is free floating format. This has no specific structure or flow. This is free flow design.

6.Graphics

To make website attractive many webdevelopers use graphics, animated gifs, flash animation and many other tricks. The animation shuld fit your webpage.
7.Design Principals.
  • Designer of the website must have a clear idea about the development of the website.In the development of a Web site, it is important that the Web designer be able to edit graphics and create animations. Two great graphic editing software programs are Microsoft's PhotoDraw and Adobe PhotoShop. Also, Macromedia's Flash is an exceptional program that enables developers to create an array of dazzling effects. In addition, a digital camera and scanner are important tools for capturing and editing graphics.
  • Simplicity is the most important thing a website shuld have.
  • Choose the colors according to the need of the subject of your website.
  • Visuals must specify the subject of the website.
  • Content must be given importance and not the ads.
  • Balance is a form of equilibrium within a Web page or visual. Visuals on a Web page that are out of balance are disturbing to viewers. There are two types of balance: formal and informal. Formal balance refers to a situation in which the two halves of the visual are symmetrically arranged around the vertical center of the visual. Informal balance refers to an arrangement in which the elements are not symmetrically arranged, but still appear balanced and stable. Informal balance is more difficult to achieve, but can result in more interesting visuals
